Offcuts
One day, all of a sudden, we had an idea...
We are furniture makers working largely with locally-sourced hardwoods. As we process timber we inevitably create waste in the form of offcuts. These are short or narrow pieces of perfectly good timber, and the best use of these up until now has been firewood.
However we noticed that a significant proportion of these offcuts are of a size that could be useful, with a bit of imagination. We set them aside for a few weeks and got to thinking about designs.
Care:
Solid wood is a natural material and is affected by moisture and heat. In order to keep these products in their best condition:
- do not leave standing in wate
- wash regularly with mild detergent and water and leave to air-dry
These pieces are finished in raw linseed oil. They are a good reflection of the range of woods we work with on a daily basis, so here you'll probably find oak, ash and beech.
If you want to know what we did with the wood that didn't make it to the offcuts bin, or you would like to donate wood to the Offcut Project feel free to contact Finbarr via us - just complete our contact form.
