organic cotton ginghams -natural dyes - mulit-gingham

organic cotton ginghams -natural dyes

Available in six colours: indigo, brick, ash pink, celery, black and mid-blue (a lighter indigo)

It took us a long time to source organic cotton ginghams and these are even more environmentally friendly than we were expecting. Using traditional herbal dyeing methods that date back thousands of years, no toxic chemicals are involved in the manufacture of these textiles. The waste water from the dyeing process is even used as a fertiliser.

Dyed with natural vegetable dyes (no insect colours used) these ginghams are also hand-loomed.

We offer a swatch of our textile range available by the metre for 1.00.  If you wish to order a swatch by itself please send four first class stamps to this address to avoid paying full delivery charges.

  • Light-medium weight organic cotton gingham
  • Hand-woven
  • Natural vegetable dyes
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Gentle cool hand-wash
  • Widths vary between 106 cm - 112 cm
  • Allow for shrinkage of 2-4%

Please note: as these fabrics are dyed with natural vegetable dyes they are sometimes less colour-fast in sunlight and during washing than textiles dyed with chemical processes. This is part of their charm and not a fault. Also, the fabrics are hand-woven in small batches so we may not be able to  provide continuous lengths over 5m. Please enquire before ordering if necessary, in order to avoid disappointment.

Due to the hand-made nature of this textile there are occasional minor flaws and imperfections in the weave or pattern. When we cut the fabric we try to avoid these, however if you are unhappy with a length sent to you we are happy to refund in full.

Further care information is available under the Ethics tab and associated link above.
