Clothing and the concept of being "organic" is a complex combination with many definitions. To us, being organic means that we must ensure that the clothes we bring to market can be bought by our customers and used by consumers with a clear conscience with regards to the facts that
1) Our products are not harmful to human skin.
2) Our products have been produced under environmentally "sane" conditions.
3) The human efforts put into the production have not compromised the safety or human rights of the people involved.
Various organisations set standards for ensuring the above and issue certificates as your guarantee. All our cotton styles - both woven and knitted - are made from organic yarns that are "SKAL"-certified. This means that the cotton plants have grown on fields without use of fertilizers or pesticides and our spinning mill partners have production procedures, use additives etc. according to a number of criteria. SKAL is one of several organisations/standards that we intend to comply with in our pursuit of making our range truly organic and maintain a high ethical standard.
Some of our cotton styles are SKAL certified throughout the entire production process, but not all. However, even for the styles that are not certified beyond the yarn stage, we have of course ensured, that the criteria contained in the SKAL-standard have been complied with also for these styles. Continously, we are working together with our suppliers on also getting the actual certification (as your guarantee), but it is a costly and time consuming process.
